The topics of analysis were:

• levels and trends in fertility and mortality in Bangladesh, 
• fertility differentials in Bangladesh, 
• determinants of child mortality in Bangladesh, 
• unmet contraceptive needs and reasons for non-use, 
• duration of contraceptive use in Bangladesh, 
• characteristics of breastfeeding in Bangladesh, 
• determinants of acceptance, continuation, and termination of family planning methods, and 
• utilization of the proximate determinants of fertility to assess family planning program performance.

The study was undertaken under a contract with the USAID, Dhaka.
