The follow-up DMTS was designed to evaluate the performance of ORT (Oral Re-hydration Therapy) Programs in Bangladesh since the time the baseline DMTS was conducted. Investigation of the changes in the following aspects of ORT was done—(i) the proportion of diarrheal episodes in under-5 children who were treated with ORT, (ii) the extent of correct use of ORT at home, (iii) the dietary management of diarrheal episodes, (iv) parents’ special knowledge about ORT, (v) sources of advice and treatment for diarrheal episodes, and (vi) access to oral re-hydration solution (ORS) and the availability of the ingredients for the preparation of sugar-salt solutions.
