The survey of socio-demographic living status of a selected urban slum area of Dhaka was conducted in the Sattola slum situated in Mohakhali, Dhaka. The survey took place in the Pora slum and the Lalkuthi slum of the Sattola slum. These slums are located on 3 acres land owned by Bangladesh Medical Research Council (BMRC) provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The main purpose of the survey was to assess the socio-demographic living status of the slum. The survey was implemented on the basis of systematic random sampling. A sample of 424 households was selected from the 4000 households of Pora slum and the Lalkuthi slum of the Sattola slum of Dhaka city. Most (72.7%) households reported that they were staying in this slum on rental basis whereas; only 27.3% households reported they built the living houses themselves in the occupied land of BMRC. Most (76.4%) households reported that they owned homestead in their own village or any other places. Moreover, 24.1% households reported that they owned agricultural land (other than the homestead land) in their own villages.
