The major objectives of the survey were to find out:

• how far the traditional healers/volunteers are an effective channel for family planning motivation and service delivery, 
• attitude of rural people towards the traditional healers/volunteers providing family planning services, 
• the contraceptive prevalence rate in the area of operation of the projects, and 
• how far the projects had a cost effective approach.

The survey was undertaken under a contract with the FPAB.
