School Data Collection of Two Districts—Dinajpur and Bogra (1998)

The main objective of the survey was to generate data to improve access to formal education and the quality of education for children in the districts of Kurigram, Bogra and Dinajpur. Other objectives were to design and implement a local and decentralized in-service teachers’ training system, development of learning teaching materials for teachers’ training assistance in developing management of education at school, upazila and district levels, and to develop, and implement strategies to strengthen community participation in the management and provision of education in schools.

 

The survey sample consisted of 104 schools under 3 upazilas in Bogra District and 83 schools in Dinajpur District.

 

The specific tasks carried out by Mitra and Associates were:

 

  • sampling of schools as per criteria suggested by GTZ-CPEP
  • formulating the survey implementation plan
  • recruiting and training of field personnel
  • developing of interviewing schedule and manual
  • computerizing of data and
  • submitting of clean data set

 

The survey was jointly funded by German Financial and Technical Cooperation and the GTZ.
